Fashion blogs have been around since the early 2000s, but today, blogging is a whole new ball game. While fashion blogs are at an all-time high, we can’t argue against the fact that social media platforms like Instagram remain the single largest forum to redirect traffic towards them. What made you start blogging?

I started blogging because of my interest in writing – this happened before instagram was launched. Back then it was a small bunch of fashion bloggers who belonged to a very tight knit  community.

My blog grew from a personal blog, to a fashion blog – where I featured my personal style, and them it went on to become what it is today – a travel and lifestyle blog. Along the way, I got on instagram, as well, and now I create content for both my blog and instagram.

How do you get your following?

That happened organically over a period of years, but to be honest, the pressure and the number game only started after instagram came into the picture. It’s easy to compare your followers to someone else’s, but the important thing is to remember that good content is what matters, and the blogging industry too is taking that into priority now.

Is blogging a full-time occupation?

Yes, it is full-time for me. It’s a very satisfying and frustrating journey just like any other small scale business. There are ups and downs, dealing with deadlines, payment issues and so on. But at the end of the day, I wouldn’t do anything else other than blogging!

People have this misconception that a blogger is usually followed by a camera all throughout…

How I wish that was true! It would make content creation so much easier. But no, we don’t have someone following us around all day. I plan my editorial calendar about 10-15 days in advance, plan out what posts I need to put up – outfit posts, flat lays, product shoots, travel posts etc. and schedule accordingly.
