Dr. Jill Biden may become the only First Lady to work outside the White House

Dr. Jill Biden has been an educator for decades. She teaches English at the Northern Virginia Community College and started working at the college in 2009. Before that, she taught in a number of public schools in Delaware. She earned her doctorate in education in the year 2007 from the University of Delaware. Jill plans to continue teaching and can become the only First Lady to hold a paid job outside the White House. She took a break from teaching for the first time since 1981 to assist her husband on the campaign trail.


Jill was born in 1951 in Hammonton, New Jersey and grew up in Pennsylvania with four younger sisters. She married Joe Biden in 1977 and the couple has been married for over 40 years. Joe proposed to her five times before she said yes. They welcomed a daughter Ashley in 1981. They lost their son Beau Biden to brain cancer in 2015. He was the son of Biden’s first wife Neilia who passed away in a car accident in 1972.
Jill promised to work hard to make the nation better.She has plans to continue advocating for free community college tuition, funding for cancer research as well as support for military families.
