Dr. Jaideep Mahendra receives highest degree -Doctorate of Science in Dentistry (Periodontology)

Dr. Jaideep Mahendra, the Director of Postgraduate studies and Professor in the Department of Periodontology, Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital, Chennai received the highest degree – Doctorate of Science in Dentistry (Periodontology). She has the honour of becoming the first woman dentist (Periodontist) to get the distinction.

Receiving the highest honour DSc (doctorate of science) degree from the prestigious Sri Ramachandra University
She received this prestigious honour from the Chancellor, Sri Ramachandra University and  appreciation from Atul Goel, Director General of Health Services, Government of India, New Delhi on October 26th 2023.
She has 246 publications to her credit both in National and International journals. She has guided 24 PhD scholars and currently 7 researchers are doing PhD under her guidance.

Her current research is based on Periodontal Medicine and Yoga Practices on Dental health using a holistic approach. She firmly believes in functional medicine and holistic healing methods. She has worked on various medicinal herbal plant extracts and home remedies for the treatment of periodontal diseases. Therapeutic herbs like Ginkgo biloba, Turmeric, Mangosteen pericarp gel, Spirulina in- situ gel have been used by her to treat gum diseases. Besides this, she has extensively worked on exploring the intricate links between gum infections and various systemic diseases.
