Doyen of education passes away

Dr. Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy popularly known as Mrs YGP passed away yesterday after a brief illness. She was the head of the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan group of schools in Chennai. She was 93. She leaves behind two sons, Y.G. Mahendra and Y.G. Rajendra and several grand children.

Her body was kept for public homage at PSBB’ s  T. P. Road branch. Large number of students, teachers, parents and the public from all walks of life paid their last respects to the legendary teacher. The cremation will take place at the crematorium at Besant Nagar today. She brought out the latent talents in her students and gave a lot of prominence to extra curricular activities. Some of her students include A.R. Rahman, G.V .Prakash, Anirudh, Harish Raghavendra and Saindhavi.  In spite of her age and being confined to the wheel chair, she would attend all major events of Bharat Kalachar.
