Central Crime Branch to conduct probe

Investigation of the suicide of IIT Madras student Fathima Latheef had been transferred to the Central Crime Branch. A special team has been formed to conduct a probe into the matter. This was announced by City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan while speaking to reporters.
The special team will be headed by former CBI DIG, and the present Joint Commissioner of the Central Crime Branch, C. Eswaramoorthy. Another former Assistant Commissioner of CBI, Prabhakaran will be part of the team. S.Megalina who is the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for crimes against women and children will be the investigating officer.  Due to the sensitivity of the case, senior officials have been selected to conduct the investigations. This special team head is credited with cracking several tough cases through skilful investigation.
