Celebrities have time and again been our place of escape through the entertainment medium for decades. Even though the show must go on, we happen to forget about the problems that they have been secretly fighting. They have entertained us on and off the screen. But the problems they go through are something we are unknown to us. Those who act like heroes on screen become real heroes when they stand up and fight against their problems. Here we have our Indian celebrities who battled fatal illness and came out victorious.

Manisha Koirala

Manisha Koirala has given the film industry super hit films such as Dil Se, Bombay, and Baba to name a few. At the age of 42, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer for which she got treated in New York. After several surgeries and chemotherapies, she was declared cancer-free in the year 2015. Manisha conquered her illness and came out of it like a true hero.

Mamta Mohandas

Mamta survived cancer and has battled Hodgkin’s lymphoma from 2010. In 2013, she had a relapse of cancer and underwent treatment. She is currently residing in Downtown Los Angeles as a part of her cancer treatment.

Gautami

Gautami survived cancer victoriously and she has discussed her journey and battle on various platforms. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at 35 and has battled the fatal illness bravely.

Sonali Bendre

Actress Sonali Bendre revealed that she has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Bendre who is known for her role in Kadhalar Dhinam took to social media in an emotional post. She is currently getting treated in New York.

Irrfan Khan

Irrfan Khan revealed he had been diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. It was shocking information for fans but the ‘Madari’ actor kept it together and fought against the fatal illness. Irrfan is still under recovery and will be seen in his upcoming film Karwaan alongside Mithila Palkar and Dulquer Salmaan.

Yuvraj Singh

After the World Cup in the 2011 tournament, Yuvraj was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his lung and underwent chemotherapy in the USA. In March 2012, he returned to India and was even part of the 2012 T20 World Cup after recovery.

Lisa Ray

The famous actor and model were diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2009 which is a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow, a rare disease. In 2010, Ray announced she was cancer-free but not completely cured. The rare disease is treatable but incurable. But that has not affected the beautiful model’s outlook towards life.
