People who tested positive for Covid 19 are increasing by the day. Yesterday alone 1685 people tested positive and there were 21 deaths. The State now has a total of 34,914 cases. The only consoling factor is that 798 patients have been discharged. Health Minister Dr. C. Vijayabhaskar and the Health Secretary Dr. Beela Rajesh have arranged for a 500 bed Covid hospital facility at the King Institute in Guindy for treating Covid 19 patients particularly geriatric patients with co-morbidalities.
It has all facilities including ICU and oxygen pipelines. Arrangements are being made to increase the number of beds in both government as well as private hospitals. Chennai alone will be getting 4,900 additional beds and the government has also recruited more doctors, para medics and volunteers to help tackle the virus.
