Birth anniversary of Jaya made as State Girl Children Protection Day

Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Edappadi K Palaniswami informed the Tamilnadu Assembly that the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Jayalalitha which falls on February the 24th would be observed as the State Girl Children Protection Day. He also recalled all her schemes which were introduced by her to benefit women like the cradle baby scheme, girl children protection scheme, gold for thali scheme, marriage assistance scheme and the scheme for the aged and abandoned children are still being implemented by the present government. He said that the government plans to introduce more schemes like financial assistance of Rs 2 lakhs by way of bank deposit to destitute girls.

This would help them to lead an independent life once they leave the government homes. A special fund would be provided to destitute girls to enable them to pursue higher education. The current monthly aid of Rs 2000 given to foster parents would be doubled to Rs 4000 and would be given for 5 years. Moreover children from orphanages and homes would be considered for government jobs in C and D categories depending upon the vacancies. They will be offered jobs in anganwadis and noon meal centres in a priority basis.
