Australia’s new Cabinet has a record number of women that includes religious minorities and indigenous aboriginals. A total number of 10 women have been included in the 23 member cabinet. The previous Liberal- National coalition government led by Scott Morrison had 7 women.

The Ministry headed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was sworn into office this morning at a ceremony in the national capital, Canberra. The Deputy Prime Minister is Richard Marles and has been assigned the defense portfolio.
Albanese said that Labor will govern in its own right claiming 77 seats in the 151 seat lower house and it can form a majority government without the support of climate focused independents and Greens, It will also have to negotiate with 16 crossbenchers to pass legislation and will need additional support for legislation in the Parliament’s upper house.
