Australian PM celebrates Holi on his trip to India

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese celebrated Holi during his maiden trip to India. The celebrations were held at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar. He arrived at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport and headed straight to the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad and paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. The Ashram was the former home of Mahatma Gandhi and also served as one of the main centres of India’s freedom struggle.


The Australian PM is on a four day visit to India and was welcomed at the airport by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The Chief Minister accompanied the Australian PM for the Ashram tour.
Later in the evening, he was welcomed by Governor Acharya Devvrat and CM Patel at the Raj Bhavan. They smeared colour on his face as a mark of Holi celebrations. Artists from different states performed traditional dance forms at the event. The Australian leader posted photos of the event on Twitter.
