Vice -President of India Jagdeep Dhankar arrived in Chennai on Sunday, June 15. He was received by Governor RN Ravi, Minister M.Mathiventhan, Chennai Mayor R.Priya, Rajya Sabha Members NR Elango and Kanimozhi and Chief Secretary N Muruganandam at the Chennai airport.
He will visit Pondicherry on Tuesday and will take part in events at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research and at the Pondicherry University.
He was driven down to Raj Bhavan for an overnight stay. The Vice-President who is also Chancellor of Pondicherry University will visit the University on Tuesday, June 17 at 10 am and interact with the students, faculty and staff members at the Jawaharlal Auditorium at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Administrative Building.
The Greater Chennai City Police have made necessary security arrangements in view of his visit. Drones and other aerial objects have been banned in Chennai till June 17.
