Vatican to send Pope’s message of hope into space

0

The Vatican has announced that it will send a message of faith and hope delivered by Pope Francis in 2020 in the midst of the coronavirus lockdown into space. The speech of the Pope praying alone in an empty St. Peter’s Square has been compiled into a ”nanobook” measuring less than two millimetres wide. It will be launched into orbit on June 10.

It will go around the earth on a satellite at an altitude of about 525 kilometres. The ”Spei Satelles”(Satellites of Hope in Latin) project is being coordinated by the Italian Space Agency with many Italian institutions. It will allow the Holy Father’s words of hope to cross the borders of the earth and reach the greatest number of people on our troubled planet.
Earlier in 2017, the Pope held a video call with astronauts aboard the International Space Station and asked them about ”man’s place in the universe”.
