Ketanji Brown Jackson has been sworn in as the first black woman to serve on the US Supreme Court. History was made after her appointment by Democratic President Joe Biden.
Jackson’s appointment is a profound step forward.. Her swearing -in marks a major moment for Biden who oversees the appointment of Supreme Court judges.It presents an opportunity for his administration to pivot from a spate of bad news in recent months.


Jackson is replacing Justice Steven Breyer who served for many years on the court. Biden thanked him for his many years of exemplary service.
Four of the nine member court are now women and it is the most diverse bench in history.
