The intense lockdown imposed on Sunday to help fight against Covid 19 was total. People stayed indoors, vehicles were off the roads and all markets and shops were shut. Only police personnel and health workers were seen moving around and pharmacies were kept open.
The intense lockdown was announced by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and was extended in Madurai and other nearby regions including the Paravai Town Panchayat till July 14. The intense lockdown will continue in Chennai for the next two Sundays of the month.
