Sudha Murthy, the mother-in-law of Rishi Sunak stated that it was her daughter Akshata Murthy who ”made her husband a Prime Minister”. According to her, it was Akshata who influenced Rishi Sunak’s life in many ways, especially his diet and helped him to rise to power and become the youngest Prime Minister of the UK.

She went on to say that a wife can change her husband and while she made her husband a businessman, her daughter made her husband a Prime Minister.
Akshata Murthy married Rishi Sunak in 2009 and though the family of Rishi Sunak has been in England for the past 150 years, they are very religious.
For Sudha Murthy and her family, Thursday is an auspicious day and they started Infosys on a Thursday. The family fasts every Thursday. On seeing this, Rishi Sunak also started fasting on Thursdays even though his mother fasts every Monday.
