Roger Binny takes over as 36th BCCI President

Cricketer Roger Binny who was part of the 1983 team that won the World Cup has been elected as the 36th President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. He will take over the position from Sourav Ganguly. Binny was elected unopposed at the Annual General Meeting held yesterday, the 18th of October, 2022.


Binny played 27 test matches and 72 One Day International matches for India. He stated that he wished to focus on two things- The prevention of injuries to the players and on the pitches in the country.
The General Body approved of the inauguration of Women’s IPL. There will be 5 teams but details on how the teams will be formed and how the matches will be conducted will be decided later. Other office bearers who were elected unopposed were treasurer Ashish Shelar, vice-president Rajeev Shukla and joint secretary Devjit Saikia.
