Pope Francis, who is in Rome’s Gemelli hospital and treated for double pneumonia, has approved the new process for reforms for the global Catholic Church. The 88 year old pontiff plans to continue as Pope and head the Catholic Church.

Pope Francis has extended the work of the Synod of Bishops, a signature initiative of his 12 year old stint as Pope. He has discussed reforms on the possibility of women serving as Catholic deacons and the better inclusion of LGBTQ people in the Church.
Pope Francis has been in hospital for more than a month and this prolonged absence has caused speculation that he may choose his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI and resign the papacy. The latest medical bulletins from the Vatican have said that the Pope is improving but have not mentioned about when he will be discharged from hospital.
