Mahesh Babu is all set to begin the shooting for his next film ‘Brahmotsavam’, directed by Srikanth Addala, from September 16. The family drama is expected to commence its regular shooting in Tirupathi and scenes would be canned on Mahesh and other support cast. Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal and Pranitha Subhash are playing the female leads.
Reacting strongly to media reports that Rajinikanth may star in a biopic on Tipu Sultan, Hindu Munani leader Rama Gopalan has urged the superstar to desist from doing so. According to Gopalan, Tipu was ‘anti-Tamil’ and hence no Tamil actors including Rajinikanth should star in the film. Bengaluru-based entrepreneur-producer Ashok Kheny reportedly wants to make a biopic on Tipu Sultan with the 64-year-old southern superstar.
Kamal Haasan, in association with the All India Film Emploes Confederation (AIFEC), has announced a three-day film workshop in November for over 10,000 people working in the industry. The venue for the workshop is yet to be finalised. According to an official statement, G. Shiva, president of AIFEC in collaboration with Kamal, chairman of Media and Entertainment Skills Council (MESC), will bring together 35 film unions under one roof via the workshop.
The audio of Varun Tej’s forthcoming romantic war drama “Kanche”, co-starring Pragya Jaiswal, will be unveiled in Vishakhapatnam on September 17. Varun is playing the role of an Indian solider in the British army in the Krish directorial. The team zeroed in on Vizag as the location for audio release because the city has a unique connection with World War II era.
Yesteryear actress Radikaa’s daughter Rayanne Radikaa will get engaged to Indian cricketer Abhimanyu Mithun on September 23 in a traditional ceremony in Chennai. Apparently, Rayane and Abhimanyu have been seeing each other for a while and have recently got the approval of both their families. The wedding date is not finalised.
Kamal Hassan met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat on Friday to discuss ideas related to promotion of the film industry and easing the process of shooting in the capital. Apparently, the duo discussed the issue of making Delhi a better and easier place for film shootings.
Actor Kabir Bedi, who has been missing from the silver screen, will next be seen in the Malayalam film “Anarkali” and says that he “enjoyed” working with actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in the film. Kabir took to Twitter to share his happiness and announced that the movie will release next month. “Anarkali” is a drama film and marks the directorial debut of Sachy of the Sachi-Sethu duo.
A song teaser from the bilingual film in Tamil and Telugu (Size Zero) starring Arya, Anushka, Sonal Chauhan among others has been released. It’s the title song of sorts and one cannot help being taken back to the song from the 1992 Kamal Haasan, Revathy, Sivaji Ganesan starrer ‘Thevar Maghan’ – ‘Inji Iduppazhaghi’, which was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Music for the film has been composed by Maragathamani.

The trailer was launched by Nivin Pauly recently. The film is slated for released on September 24 coinciding with Eid al-Adha 2015. Music has been composed by Rahul Raj, cinematography by Pradheesh M Varma and editing by Arju Ben. The film has been produced by Asif Ali, Sajin Jaffar and Brijeesh Mohamed under the banner of Adam’s World Of Imagination. The film is directed by Vinay Govind and written by Salil Menon and Ranjeet Kamala Sankar.
In a unique initiative by G Shiva, President of AIFEC ( All India Film Employees Confederation) under the guidance of chairman of the Media & Entertainment Skills Council Dr Kamal Hassan decided to organize a 3-day workshop bringing together 35 film unions for conducting Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for about 10,000 workforce currently working in the film industry . The three-day workshop would involve training which would be conducted by national and international film dignitaries, technicians, specialists in 16 trades/job roles and certificates given for the prior skills. The film union unanimously has announced a 3-day work holiday for the skilling during second week of November making it a “workers driven” initiative.

On September 10, Thursday, the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee invited over the brand ambassadors of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s most ambitious Swachh Bharat campaign, for a tea party at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. This was a mark of honour for the brand ambassadors from the various chapters. Kamal Haasan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Amala Nagarjuna, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Ambani, Shankar Mahadevan were present among the distinguished guests. Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu, presented the first copy of a booklet on the Clean India campaign to the President.
