Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni visited Dewri Temple in Ranchi just before the 2021 Indian Premier League season. Dhoni will be captaining the Chennai Super Kings team this season as well. Pictures of him visiting the temple are going viral on social media. His arrival drew huge crowds. Dhoni was dressed in a black round neck t-shirt with military print pants.

Dhoni has been captaining the Chennai Super Kings team ever since the beginning of the IPL. Under his leadership, CSK lifted the IPL trophy thrice. The team fared badly during the last season in the UAE but are expected to do better this season as they have new, strong players like Moeen Ali, Cheteshwar Pujara, M Harisankar Reddy, K Bhagath Varma, Krishnappa Gowtham, and C Hari Nishaanth. The usual eight teams will be competing for the IPL trophy. They are Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings.
The Board of Cricket Control in India is looking for stadium options outside Maharashtra as coronavirus cases in the state are on the rise. They are looking for options in Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. It is believed that the finals may be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the dates for the tournament have not yet been released.
