A Tanzanian man has a vast family empire. He married 20 women and is currently living with his 16 wives including 7 sisters. He has 104 children and 144 grandchildren.
This huge family lives in a small village in Njombe, Tanzania. The man is named Mzee Ernesto Muinuchi Kapinga. Four of his wives passed away.. There are individual houses for each wife and their family members.
There was a request from his father to grow his small clan and therefore Kapinga, took it as a challenge and decided to follow his father’s wish and married 20 women in order to expand his clan.
To support his large family, Kapinga and his entire family cultivate crops and raise livestock. Thisway they ensure that they meet their food requirements. They grow corn, beans, cassava, bananas etc. Any surplus produce is traded by them to obtain other essential goods.
