GM Magnus Carlsen and his wife Ella Victoria have announced the good news that they are expecting their first child. The couple tied the knot in Oslo on January 4 this year.
Carlsen posted the news on his Instagram page along with three pictures of his wife showing her baby bump.The due date has not yet been revealed.This news however was not a surprise to those attending and following chess tournaments as a visibly pregnant Ella Victoria was seen accompanying Carlsen to tournaments in Paris and Karlsruhe in March and April.
Ella Victoria who is 26 years old was born in Hong Kong to a Norwegian mother and an American father. She grew up partly in Oslo. She studied in the US and also spent years in Singapore where she is a permanent resident.They were first seen together during the 2024 Freestyle Chess G.O.A.T. Challenge in Germany. Though Ella Victoria keeps a low profile in public, she has taken a major role in her husband’s career in the past few months.
