Kiran Bedi the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry participated in games organised for rural women to celebrate National Unity Day in Soriyankuppam village in Puducherry. The women tried their hands at handball and then played tug – of- war at a temple ground.
Ms.Bedi planted saplings at the temple ground and said that participation in games and collective tree sapling events helped to strengthen the unity among the villagers. She educated the women on keeping their houses and surroundings clean,to prevent water from stagnating and thereby prevent breeding of mosquitoes. She also advised thewomenfolk not to borrow money from private money lenders but to approach Nabard.
