It is directed by Iranian American filmmaker Rakya Zehtabchi. The film is produced by Guneet  Chaudhary’s Sikhya Entertainment and also been crowd funded by students from Los Angeles. It began with a  group of young high school girls and their English teacher after they  learnt that women were being shamed for their periods all over the world.

It highlights the taboo around menstruation and rural India. The film released recently on Netflix. It  also won  many awards at film festivals around the world. The director said that the main aim for making this film was to spread awareness and to share the message to the world that period is an end of a sentence but not a girls education.
