Team India led by skipper Rohit Sharma clinched a record third Champions Trophy title on Sunday with a four wicket victory over New Zealand.
India won the previous two trophies in the years 2002 and 2013 and have become the only team in the world to claim the title thrice. They surpassed Australia’s two championships.
Team India had to chase 252 for victory. They got off to a flying start with Rohit Sharma’s half century. KL Rahul was unbeaten with 34 runs. India managed to win the match in the final held in Dubai with an over to spare.
A notable fact is that team India remained unbeaten throughout the eight-nation tournament.Rohit Sharma was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant knock of 76 runs off 83 balls.
