The higher education department has issued new guidelines regarding harassment. As per the guidelines, assignment of non academic work, seeking favours in cash or kind, undue delay in the process of examination and evaluation of PhD, and M Phil will constitute harassment and punishment would vary from demotion to warning and removal.
These guidelines are aimed to safeguard research scholars as they are subjected to many forms of harassment.The objective is to create safe campuses for students, staff and faculty to function without fear, threat or anxiety. In recent years harassment in higher education institutions have increased and has caught public attention.That is the reason for the government to issue these guidelines.
