Bengaluru will soon have its first Bicycle Mayor an honorary two year position in a global programme envisaged by the Amsterdam based NGO ByCS. Bengaluru will be the third city in the country to have a Bicycle Mayor after Baroda and Guwhati.
The applicants for the post include cycling enthusiasts, activists and those who have been actively involved in making Bengaluru bicycle friendly. Plans are on to encourage corporate professionals and students to make use of bicycles regularly.
