Sridhar Vembu, founder of Zoho and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have warned that Artificial Intelligence will start taking over the majority of software engineering jobs in the future.
According to Sridhar Vembu, AI will take over 90 percent of programming work and eliminate repetitive tasks. He said that 90 percent of what programmers write is boilerplate stuff.
AI can remove accidental complexity but human expertise is required to tackle core challenges. Sridhar Vembu stepped down as the CEO of Zoho to focus on research and development initiatives regarding the advent of AI.
The same views were also expressed by Sam Altman who in a recent interview said that at some point of time, we will require less software engineers. He said that even now, at least half of the coding work is being done by AI.
