Vijay, an actor turned politician, recently hosted an Iftar event at the YMCA grounds in Royapettah, Chennai. This event has courted controversy as the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamat has filed a complaint that Vijay insulted Muslims at the event.
Syed Ghouse from the Organization said that many people who attended the Iftar event were drunkards and hooligans and therefore having such people around during a pious event was a big insult to Muslims who religiously follow the rules of Ramadan.
Vijay has not even tendered an apology about the inconveniences that took place at the event. It was further alleged that during the launch of Vijay’s political party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, people were not respected as human beings and were treated like cattle.
The Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath has registered a police complaint in order to prevent such incidents from taking place in future.
