S. Somanath, an eminent scientist and the former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization has been appointed as the Chancellor of Chanakya University. According to an official communication, Somanath took charge on Thursday, June 12, 2025 and replaced Founder Chancellor MK Sridhar. However, MK Sridhar will continue to be a part of the University by being on the Board of Governors as a member.
The University is a private one in Bengaluru and was founded by a person connected with the RSS.
After the recent amendments to the university’s act by the state government, the University has made provision for the state government’s nominee on the Board of Governors. However, the government has not yet sent its nominee.
The University takes great pride that S Somanath, an eminent scientist is joining their rolls and his appointment marks a significant milestone for the University.
