Imran Khan, jailed former Prime Minister of Pakistan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts towards human rights and democracy. Members of the Pakistan World Alliance, announced the nomination of the 72 year old Imran Khan.
Earlier in 2019, Imran Khan was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to promote peace in South Asia.The Norwegian Nobel Committee receives hundreds of nominations each year and they go through a long eight month process to select the winner.
Imran Khan is the founder of the main opposition party in Pakistan named Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He has been in jail since August 2023. He was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment in a case of corruption and misuse of authority. He however denies all the charges against him and said that they are politically motivated.
