According to experts, practising yogasanas, pranayama and meditation for half an hour every day, drinking warm water and consuming ayurvedic herbs like tulsi, cinnamon, black pepper, dry ginger and raisins helps to increase the body’s immune system. Besides this, the use of turmeric, cummin, coriander and garlic in cooking and consuming jaggery and fresh lemon juice can be helpful to fight against viruses like coronavirus.

It has been found that these herbs help to increase the production of antibodies to generate immune response against viruses and increase the rate of phagocytosis to destroy microorganisms. The basic idea here is that if one does not have a weapon to combat the enemy, having an effective shield should be the best way to protect oneself. The Ayush Ministry has recommended to drink a glass of hot milk with half a teaspoon of turmeric powder once or twice a day. They also recommend application of sesame oil, coconut oil or ghee in both nostrils in the morning and evening.
