The country celebrated it’s 71st Republic Day. In Chennai, celebrations were held at the Marina Beach where Governor Banwarilal Purohit unfurled the National Flag in the presence of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal, Ministers and many other dignitaries.
As the flag was being unfurled, the National Anthem was sung and flower petals were showered from the skies by Indian Air Force helicopters. This was followed by a marchpast held by various contingents and an aerobatics show which kept the audience glued to their seats. The Governor took salute during the ceremonial march past that showcased the military might. School and College students presented a rich cultural show. The activities and programmes of various government departments were highlighted at the event.
