11 people killed in stampede in Bengaluru after RCB IPL victory

A day after team RCB won the IPL trophy, there was a stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru that left 11 people dead and 56 injured. The stampede took place during the victory celebrations of RCB.

Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has suspended Bengaluru Police Commissioner B.Dayananda pending enquiry together with the other officials who were in the jurisdiction where the stadium is located.
He has announced a judicial enquiry by a one-man commission led by former Karnataka High Court judge Michael D’ Cunha.
An FIR has been lodged against RCB, Karnataka State Cricket Association and the event management team.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Government has handed over the probe of the stampede to the Criminal Investigation Department. A Special Investigation Team within the CID will be formed to carry out an independent probe.
