Around 50 women led by Chennai based women rights group Manithi will visit Sabarimala on December 23rd. All the visiting women would observe celibacy for 5 days before their visit. Women from all States viz Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Kerala and the Adivasi women’s group will all join together for the visit. Manithi has also sought prior permission.
They have written a letter to the Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan seeking support to visit the temple and their letter has been forwarded to the police officers in Pathanamthitta to provide the necessary assistance. Despite receiving discouragement online, the group has not wavered. They are looking forward to visiting the temple.
