Tihar Jail officials are conducting search operations inside sub-jail number 8 and have recovered a mobile handset and sim card with a Telegram account in the name of Jaish-ul-hind. This account had claimed responsibility for the explosive laden SUV found abandoned near Mukesh Ambani’s residence in Mumbai and demanded money through cryptocurrency.
Tihar sources said that 11 inmates were questioned and their cells and belongings were searched thoroughly. The probe of the Mumbai Police revealed that the mobile number was registered in the name of Jayadip Lodhiya, Raghubar Pura, East Delhi. This number was activated in July last year and was smuggled inside Tihar. The Police have also tracked down another number which was switched off since September last year and was used to activate the main number.

The user of the primary number had a Telegram account and was using a TOR browser that masks a user’s IP address while using the internet. They also detected that the Telegram account was created on February 26th. The message claiming responsibility for placing the explosive laden SUV outside the residence of Mukesh Ambani was posted on Telegram on February 27th. The message demanded payment in cryptocurrency (Monero) and even mentioned a link for the transfer. Later, another message from the same group Jaish-ul-hind was posted on social media claiming that the organisation did not have any role in the incident.
