Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has expressed his disappointment over the Centre’s rejection of the State Tableau for the Republic Day celebrations to be held in New Delhi. He requested for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s immediate intervention to have the tableau included.

Stalin stated that the people of Tamil Nadu would feel hurt if the tableau was excluded as it would showcase the freedom fighters of Tamil Nadu during the British rule.
The tableau featured VO Chidambaranar -VOC who founded the Swadeshi Steam Navigation Company in 1906, Subramania Bharathi, popularly called Maha Kavi Bharathiar who wrote patriotic songs during the Indian Independence Movement, Rani Velu Nachiyar who was the first queen to wage a war with the East India Company and the Marudhu Pandiyar brothers who offered protection to Queen Velu Nachiyar and helped her to win the war against the East India Company.
