Sumit Antil creates world record and wins gold at the Paralympics

He won gold in the javelin throw event creating a world record

Sumit Antil won gold at the Javelin throw event held at the Paralympics in Tokyo. He created a world record by throwing 68.55m. Sumit created a world record thrice, each time doing better than his previous attempt. It was during his fifth attempt that he threw 68.55m and won gold by beating Australia’s Michal Burian. Sumit lost his left leg below the knee after he was involved in a motorbike accident in 2015 but he didn’t give up. He has indeed made India proud and is a true inspiration.

India has been on a winning spree with Devendra Jhajharia winning silver and Sundar Singh Gurjar winning bronze in the men’s javelin (F46) final earlier on Monday.
