Second consignment of Russian Sputnik V vaccine reaches Hyderabad

The second batch of Sputnik V, the Russian vaccine against Covid-19 arrived in India yesterday. This is the third vaccine which has received approval in India besides Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Serum Institute’s Covishield.
Hyderabad based Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has tied up with the Russian Direct Investment Fund for the vaccines to be distributed in India.


Russian Ambassador to India, Nikolay Kudashev stated “We are very happy to see that the #RussianIndia joint fight against #COVID19, which is one of the vital areas of our bilateral cooperation nowadays, has firmly stood on rails & moving forward.” He asserted about the efficacy of the vaccine and hailed the timely delivery of the vaccine.
On May 1, India received the first consignment of Sputnik V, which contained 1,50,000 doses. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories in Hyderabad is importing the same and distributing it across India. It will soon be available on different channels after getting clearance from the Indian Drug regulatory authorities.
