He was the longest serving Bishop in India and much loved across communities

Rev Dr.Philipose Mar Chrysostom was the one of the oldest religious leaders and the longest serving Bishop in India. He was the supreme head of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church and was much loved across all communities for he was a great humanitarian. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2018 by President Ram Nath Kovind for implementing many projects for the poor and needy. He reached out to people with his uncanny sense of humour and he was very popular among the masses. PM Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi  and CM Pinarayi Vijayan among other political leaders tweeted their condolence. “Saddened by the demise of His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan. He will be remembered for his rich theological knowledge and many efforts to remove human suffering. Condolences to the members of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church,” tweeted Modi.
