Novak Djokovic won his sixth Wimbledon title on Sunday the 11th of July, 2021 by beating Italy’s Matteo Berrettini (4) 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. This win is also his 20th Gram Slam title which ties him with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

The win did not come easy for Djokovic. The first set took 70 long minutes and Berrettini blundered by hitting balls into the net and sending shots long and wide. The first set was tied at 6-6 and there was a tiebreak to decide the winner.
The second set got out of hand for Berrettini and so did the third. However, in the fourth set, he made Djokovic work for every single point before he won the set and the match.

Djokovic gave credit to Berrettini for giving him’ more than a battle’. He also thanked Nadal and Federer for challenging him to constantly up his game both mentally and physically.
The calendar Grand Slam which has been won only once is now within Djokovic’s reach. He also stands a chance to win the Golden Slam which is all four Grand Slams plus an Olympic gold medal in one calendar year.
