Night curfew revoked and schools to reopen in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to reopen schools for classes 1 to 12 from February 1. Colleges too will be allowed to function but all Covid protocols will have to be strictly followed.


However, the educational institutions that are used as Covid care centres will not reopen on February 1. Nursery schools and play schools also will not be permitted to reopen. The government has also revoked the complete lockdown on Sundays. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held a meeting with health experts and officials before deciding on the relaxations.
There will be a ban on cultural festivals and political meetings. Hotels and bakeries can function with 50% occupancy. Theatres.gyms, clubs, beauty parlors, salons etc can also function with 50% occupancy.
Places of worship that were closed to devotees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will now reopen.
CM Stalin has requested people to cooperate with the government’s efforts to protect the people from infections.
