Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand has called off her wedding as she was forced to tighten Covid-19 restrictions due to the outbreak of the Omicron variant.
She was to marry her long-time partner Clarke Gaylord. Though the wedding date was not announced, it was believed to be scheduled for some time in the next few weeks. As of now, there is a limit of 100 fully vaccinated people at events.

There have been 9 cases that emerged when a family traveled between cities to attend a wedding and a flight attendant who got infected on an aircraft that they flew on, forcing New Zealand to impose ”red setting” restrictions from midnight Sunday.
Though the Omicron variant is less serious, it is said to be far more transferable than the earlier Delta variant. These new restrictions will remain at least till the end of next month.
New Zealand had detected 15,104 Covid-19 cases and recorded 52 deaths since the pandemic began. Tough border restrictions and lockdowns have been in force for the past two years.
