Man dies in police custody in Chennai

Rajasekar, a 30 year old man died in police custody in Chennai. This is the second incident of a person dying in police custody in the past two months.

Rajasekar had around 20 cases pending against him and he was taken into police custody by Kodungaiyur police on Saturday. Rajasekar, a resident of Thiruvallur, had confessed to the crime. He is said to have complained of uneasiness. The police rushed him to a nearby hospital and took him back to the police station after treatment. He is said to have developed complications again and died even before he was taken to hospital again. He was declared ”brought dead” by the Government Stanley Hospital officials.
Five police personnel have been suspended. Tamil Nadu Director General of Police, Sylendra Babu has ordered the Crime Investigation Department to probe into Rajasekar’s death.
