In the event of rising Covid 19 cases, the Kerala government has announced complete lockdown across the state from May 8th 2021. The state saw 41, 953 infections in a single day with a case load crossing 3 lakh and per day deaths rising over 50.  Though Kerala battled the first wave effectively, the second wave is taking a toll on the medical fraternity with a shortage of beds and ventilators slowly creeping in. To avoid an alarming situation where things get out of hand, the state has opted to go for a complete lockdown.

“The entire State of Kerala will be under lockdown from 6 am on 8 May to 16 May. This is in the background of a strong 2nd wave of COVID-19,” tweeted Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
