Kerala Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan announced at a press meet this evening that the lockdown in Kerala will be extended by a week as the case load is rising steadily. Kerala has been on a lockdown for more than a week now. Districts like Ernakulam, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram and Malapuram have been witnessing an alarming rise in cases with the number going over 6000 per day. Hence Pinarayi Vijayan announced that these four districts would be under triple lockdown with a lot more restrictions. Amidst the pandemic, cyclone Tauktae is also wrecking havoc in Kerala with heavy rains and strong winds. The coastal regions like Chellanam have been flooded due to heavy rains and sea erosion, to the point where people have no option but to leave their homes and shift to relief camps.
