Every year international women’s day is observed on March 8 to celebrate the achievements of women and also to raise awareness about their equality.
It was observed for the first time in the year 1911 to highlight the achievements of women in different spheres and to put an end to gender discrimination. The theme for this year is ”gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.”

Schools, colleges and institutions across the world are celebrating women’s day by conducting rallies, seminars, exhibitions, workshops, debates, quiz competitions and lectures.
Social media is flooded with posts dedicated to strong women and to women who have made a difference. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Cabinet Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani and many other leaders have extended their greetings on the occasion.
