India wins gold at junior shooting World Championship

The Indian women’s team comprising Manu Bhaker, Rhythm Sangwan and Naamya Kapoor won a gold medal in the 25m pistol event in the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation Junior World Championship.
The Indian team beat USA 16-4 in the match. The Indians faced little competition and took a commanding lead of 10-4 at the beginning of the eighth series of rapid fire shots and then finished at 16-4. This is Manu’s fourth gold in the competition. She also won one bronze medal.


India also won a silver medal in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event when Adarsh Singh lost to USA’s Henry Turner Leverett in the six-man final. India had three finalists out of six with twins Udhayveer and Vijayveer Sidhu making it along with Adarsh Singh.
India topped the medal tally with nine golds, seven silvers and three bronze medals. USA was ranked second with five golds and a total of 16 medals.
