The all women police station at Manapparai in Tiruchy district has registered a case against a man and his family for sending a letter pronouncing triple talaq to his wife. The man named Azharuddin married Sirin Alima of the same village in April last year.
After the marriage, he left for Bengaluru where he was employed. He left his wife who was pregnant with his family. It is alleged that his father, mother and sister tortured the woman and demanded for more dowry. Azharuddin also cut off all connections with his wife. He then sent a letter pronouncing triple talaq. Alima’s parents approached the all women police station at Manapparai and registered a complaint against Azharuddin , his parents and sister. Investigations are going on as giving of triple talaq had now been made an offence.
