BJP Coimbatore South candidate Vanathi Srinivasan who is contesting against Kamal Haasan, Chief of the Makkal Neethi Maiam (MNM) sent the actor turned politician a basket of fruits with a ‘Get Well Soon’ message after she heard of his injury during the poll campaign.


Kamal Haasan was admitted to a hospital after a fan accidently stepped on his recently operated leg during his poll campaign in Coimbatore. He was advised to take rest. On hearing the news, Vanathi Srinivasan sent him fruits and wished him good health. She stated that it is their custom to take care of their guests, and since Kamal Haasan is their guest, she sent fruits. Reacting to the comment, Kamal Haasan responded. “You can’t make such logic in politics, there’s no outsider, an Indian is an Indian. Gandhiji isn’t a Gujarati, he’s my father.”
Kamal cancelled his campaign schedule due to the injury and will address a public meeting later according to sources in the MNM.
The 234 member Tamil Nadu assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 6. The counting of votes would be taken up on May 2.
