Researchers said that the family of Anne Frank tried immigrating to the United States and Cuba but were unsuccessful due to the strict immigration policy and the outbreak of the Second World War.
Documents prove that Anne Frank’s father Otto Frank made two attempts to obtain visa for the U. S. but his efforts were thwarted by American bureaucracy, war and time.The family made a fresh attempt in 1941 but this time also their efforts met with failure as all American consulates in Germany occupied Europe were closed by the Nazis. A visa application to Cuba too the same year never came through.
